Frederick and his wife Sarah lived in Shenandoah county for about five years. It is here where their children Catherine and John were born. Catherine, or Katie, was born sometime around 1798. Her brother John was born a year earlier.

Frederick and his family moved to Tennessee in the early 1800's. While living there, their son Phillip was born sometime around 1809.

The next home for the Blume family was Harrison County, Indiana where some of their descendents still live. The Blume family was a pioneer family that had moved into Indiana at a time when it was still wilderness. Their younger children, Elizabeth, Mary Margaret, Sarah Ann, and Susannah were born in Indiana.
