Nicolás Durán was sheriff of the Councio in 1642. He was mentioned in 1663 as being an "aide" to Governor Peñalosa, and having a wife and children in Santa Fé. He was not alive by 1680, but from the marriage of daughter, Catalina, we learn that his widow's name was Antonia Trujillo.

Nicolás married Antonia Trujillo, daughter of Diego de Trujillo and Catalina Marquez Vásquez. (Antonia Trujillo was born about 1632 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España and died after 1697 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.)
