Juana de Apodaca had been captured by Indians when she was a little girl. She had been captivity for twelves years when she and her little girl (María) rejoined the Spanish settlers. María was baptized and Don Diego de Vargas was her padrino (godfather).


María married Vicente Durán de Armijo, son of Joseph de Armijo and Catalina Durán, on 29 Aug 1703 in Santa Fé, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.252 (Vicente Durán de Armijo was born about 1684 in La Ciudád de Nuestra Señora de Los Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Nueva España 252 and died in 1743 in Santa Fé, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España 252.)
