Galfredus Balistarius, or Sir Geffrey L'Arbalastier (the Crossbowman), who, in the time of Richard I, held six carucates of land in Hacunshall and Presham, from John, Earl of Moreton (later King John), on condition of the service of two arbalists, or crossbowmen. His seal bears the figure of a crossbow and the heads of two men. He survived at least until 23 Henry III or 1238/9, when we find him in possession of "Hćlton terra." Geffrey L'Arbalastier was the father of the wife of Richard Schireburn and grandfather of Robert Shireburn.
