Salvador Manuel de Armijo, the third, was placed at the age of 10 by his father Vicente as an apprentice of José García of Guadalupe del Paso in order for him to learn the trade of a tailor. Fray Angélico Chávez in his Origins book, questions if he might possible the Manuel Durán de Armijo who was married to Ignacia Molinar and died in El Paso on 21 May 1747.

Or was this son of Vicente the Salvador Manuel de la Cruz Armijo who married Rosalía Romero on 29 Oct 1735. Some of their known children were: Salvador Manuel born 7 Apr 1749, María Gerómina born 21 May 1754, and María Valvanera born 6 April 1758. The three mentioned before were born in Santa Fé. A fourth child, Maria Antonia was baptized at Nambé on 17 Apr 1758 and born on 6 Apr 1758.

The Honorable Fray Angélico Chávez gives the date of death for Manuel de la Cruz Armijo as November 1752 at the age of 45 in Santa Fé, and as Chávez states, makes it impossible for him to be the Salvador Manuel Durán de Armijo who was placed as a boy to be an apprentice.

One of the other points that Chávez has pointed out in Origins is that there were many a Salvador and Manuel Armijo or both names combined and interchangeable in both the Río Arriba and Río Abajo at that time.
