~Cokayne's Complete Peerage, 2nd Edition, (Stanley), Vol. XIIA, p. 246, heir to the land in Stanley. A recognitor for Staffordshire in 1271/72, and he was sued for dissesin in respect of a wood appurtenant to his free tenement in Stanley in 1282. He died in 1285 141

Walter first appeared in the records in 1256 and in 1272. He was a juryman at the Staffordshire Assizes. In 1283, he sued for disseisin concering a wood appurtenant to his free tenement in Stanley. His children mentioned by Irvine are William, who died cir. 1322 and married Joan de Banville and Benedict, who was involved in land transaction in congleton in 1280-1285.
