The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Rhys Mechyll son of Rhys the Hoarse, son of the lord Rhys" died in 1244 [Brut y Tywysogion (Williams), p. 331]. Rhys Mechyll married Matilda de Braouse, whose parentage is not known.
