Cristina (or Elvira), daughter of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, also know as "El Cid" and his wife Ximena, married Ramiro II, grandson of García III, King of Navarre, and they were the parents of García VII, King of Navaree, "el Restaurador." Ramiro was the King of Navarre, disinherited Infante of Navarre, Lord of Urroz and Moncon, and on the first Crusade with count Raymond of Toulouse.

"The Crónica Latina names "infante Ramiro, que fue hijo del infante Sancho de cierta dueña, hijo del rey García" as father of King García [Crónica Latina de los reyes de Castilla, I, 5]. Ramiro is one of the few examples of an individual, not the son of a king, who was described with the title "infante". Señor de Monzón. The testament of "Ramiro Sánchez rey de Navarra, yerno de Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar el Cid" is dated 1110 [RAH, Colección Salazar y Castro, M-18, Falta (no. 48883)].
