17. HUGH CHAMPERNOUN. Born 24 Nov 1417 (per the IPM of his father). King Henry VI presented to Modbury in his minority, July 1423 (Lacy, p. 65) and Hugh, himself, presented to Modbury Priory in March 1429/30 (Lacy, p. 123). Member of Parliament from Barnstaple Borough in Jan 1436/7 (Parliaments, p. 329). In 1442, Henry VI dissolved Modbury Priory (Monasticon Dioecesis Eroniensis [1846], p. 298). His will of 8 Dec 1443 was proved 10 Jan 1443/4 (Consistory Court of London, Register Sharp 5, 350).

He was married to Alice Bois, daughter of John Bois, of Wood, and was the sole executrix of her husband's will.

Hugh Champernoun, of Modbury, Devon, Burgess for Barnstaple, Devon, son and heir, borrn 24 Nov 1417 (age 2 in 1420). Hugh Champernoun married Alice Bois, daughter and heiress of John Bois, of Wood. They had two sons, William and Thomas.
