Born Herstmonceux, 14 Sep 1384, Sir Roger de Fiennes was the son and heir of Sir William Fiennes (1357-1402) by Elizabeth, daughter and coheir of William Battisford of Wartling and Margaret, daughter of Simon Peplesham of Pebsahm. Roger was the brother of Sir James Fiennes, later Lord Say and Sele). Sir Roger de Fiennes married before May 1422, Elizabeth sister of John Holand of Northants.
