William de Everingham

Lionel de Welles married, 1^stly, 15 Aug 1417, at St. Oswald's, Methley, co. York, Joan (or Cecily), daughter and (eventually, in her issue) heir of Robert Waterton, of Methley, by Joan, widow of Sir William Ellis, of Kiddal, co. York, daughter of William de Everingham, of Laxton, co. Nottingham. She (described as Joan), who was living, 18 Oct 1434, was buried in the Waterton chapel at Methley.

Adam de Everingham's son and heir apparent, Sir William de Everingham, of Skinningrove, co. York, died v.p., 16 or 21 Aug 1369, having married, before 28 Jan 1353/4, Alice, daughter of Sir John de Grey, of Codnor, co. Derby [Lord Grey], by whom he had a son, Robert (who died 25 or 27 December 1370, aged 2, and two daughters, coheirs of their grandfather, the last Lord. These were (1) Joan, aged 25 and more In 1388, and then wife of Sir William Elys, who died in October 1391, and whose will, dated at Everingham, 10 Oct 1391, was proved 31 October following: she married, 2^ndly, as 1^st wife, before August 1398, Robert Waterton, of Methley, co. York, who died 17 Jan 11424/5. (2) Katherine, aged 23 and more in 1388, and then the wife of John de Etton (afterwards knight), of Gilling in Rydale, who survived her, and died 25 Mar 1433 and whose will, dated 1 Oct 1431, was proved 30 March 1433. On 27 Apr and 7 May 1388 these two coheirs had livery of their purparties of the inheritance. Among their representatives any hereditary Barony, that may be supposed to have been created by the writ of 1309, is in abeyance.

William married Alice Grey, daughter of Sir John de Grey Knight, Baron de Grey and Alice de Lisle, before 28 Jan 1354.¹⁴¹ (Alice Grey was born about 1332 in Aylesford, Kent, England and died before 1369.)
