Thomas St. Omer had protection in 1288, going overseas on embassy for the kind [Calendar of Patent Rolls: Edw. I, 2:292], In 1316, he was lord of Brundale, Swainsthorp, Maulbarton, Carlton and Swardeston in Norfolk, and of Britford and Bramshaw in Wiltshire [Record Commission, Parliamentary Writs, Div. 3 of Vol. ii, p. 1386] He had held Bramshaw as early as 1283 [Calendar of Inquisitions Post Mortem, 2:320, no. 529], formerly the property of William de Lacy and given in marriage with his daughter Parnel to Ralph de Tony. Thomas St. Omer had first married Margaret de Tony, te daughter of his step-mother His second wife Alice was the mother of his son and heir, William.
