At about 1274, the custody of the Haversham manor and Nicholas's daughter Maud was granted to Queen Eleanor. [Cal. Close, 1272\endash 9, pp. 109, 267; Hund. R. (Rec. Com.), i, 37; Feud. Aids, i, 73] Maud daughter of Nicholas married as her first husband James de la Plaunche, who was seised of the manor in the right of his wife until his death about 1306. [Cal. Close, 1288\endash 96, p. 11; Feud. Aids, i, 105; Cal. Close, 1302\endash 7, p. 414; Chan. Inq. p.m. 34 Edw. I, no. 36] He left two sons: John, the elder, who seems to have died young, and William, who afterwards held the manor. His widow married John de Olney [Feud. Aids, i, 110; Chan. Inq. p.m. 19 Edw. II, no. 83; Cat. of Anct. D. iii, 307] before 1309, [Cal. Inq. a.q.d. (P.R.O. Lists and Indexes), i, 104] and in 1324 a settlement was made by which Haversham was to pass after Maud's death to William de la Plaunche and Joan his wife and their issue.

• Background Information. 1246
Nicholas Haversham died in 1274, leaving by his wife Joan, who survived her husband, an only daughter and heir, Matilda, an infant under 12 months old. Matilda Haversham married James de la Plaunche who, at his death in 1306, was seised, in the right of Matilda. Matilda died in 1229.
