The manor of Puttenham seems to have come into the possession of Hugh de Herdeburgh, [Duchy of Lanc. Ret. of Knts'. Fees, bdle. 2, No. 7] from whom it descended to his son Roger. Roger left two daughters, Ela and Isabel, who jointly held the manor in 1297-8. [Inq. p.m. 25 Edw. I, No. 51] From them it appears to have returned to the family of Puttenham.
