Thierry I of Lorraine, Count of Flanders married Sybil of Anjou. Their son was Matthew of Alsace, Count of Boulogne, who married Marie de Blois, b. 1136 and died 1182, countess of Boulogne in her own right, daughter of Stephen de Blois, King of England, by Matilda de Boulogne. Matilda de Boulogne was the daughter of Eustace III, Count of Boulogne and Lens, Crusader who married in 1102, Marie of Scotland (d. 18 Apr 1118), daughter of Malcolm III Canmore and Margaret, daughter of Edward, the Atheling, by Agatha of Kiev.

Matthew
, Count of Boulogne, also known as Matthew of Alsace, was the second son of Thierry, Count of Flanders and Sibylla of Anjou. By his marriage to Marie de Boulogne, he became Count of Boulogne jure uxoris in 1160. They were divorced in 1170, but he continued as Count until his death.


Matthew married Marie de Boulogne, daughter of Étienne de Blois King of England and Matilda de Boulogne.160 (Marie de Boulogne was born in 1136 in Blois, France 160 and died in 1182 in St. Austrebert, Montreuil, France 160.)
