Sir John Darcy married, 1stly, Emmeline, daughter and heir of Walter Heron, of Silkstone, co. York (son and heir apparent of Sir William Heron, of Hadstone, Northumberland, and Notton, co. York), by Alice, daughter of Sir Nilcholas de Hastinges, of Allerston, co. York, and Gissing, Norfolk. She was aged 7 1/2 years in May 1297.

Walter Heron was son of William by his 1st wife, Christian (m. in or before 1270), daughter and heir of Sir Roger de Notton. Alice was married to Walter at Allerston, 27 Oct 1284; her mother was named Emmeline. Genealogists have confused the two Emmelines. On 2 Mar 1347/8 John Darcy of Knaith released to William Heroun kt. and Isabel his wife, and to Margery late the wife of Roger Heroun kt., all his right and claim in the manor of Ford, Northumberland.

William de Heron married two wives; first Christiana, daughter and sole heir of Roger de Notton; secondly, Mary, who survived him, but had no issue. By Christiana de Notton, he had issue, Walter, who died in his father's life-time.

Christian married William Heron, son of William Heron and Mary de Ford.141 (William Heron was born about 1238 in Hadston, Morpeth, Northumberland, England 1225 and died in 1296 in Northumbria 1225.)
