William Hammond, the emigrant ancestor of this branch of family in North America was born in Lavenham, Suffolk, England. It is here, that he was baptized on 30 Oct 1575. He was the only surviving son of Thomas Hammond and Rose Trippe. His fahter, Thomas, died in 1589.
