"Antonio de Tafoya Altamirano was twenty-three when he came to Santa Fe in 1695 with his brother Cristóbal. He married María Luisa Godines, young widow of Alonso Garcia de Noriega II. Luisa died on 15 Sep 1747, and Antonio died as a retired Alférez on 17 Feb 1753, "more than 80 years pld." At the time of his death he was married to a certain Magdalena. On one of his trips north from Guadalupe del Paso, Antonio was entrusted with the dues of the Conquistadora Confraternity sent up to Santa Fe.

A son of Antonio, Cristóbal, had been reared in his brother's house, as previously stated. Another, Felipe, came to be Alcalde Mayor of Santa Fe and Lieutenant General of the Kingdom; he was a charter officer of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Light; in 1728 he had married Margarita (Sayago) González de la Rosa, by whom he had five children, and then Teresa Fernández in 1750, who bore him six more. Felipe made his last will in 1771, and died on May 31 of that year. He had also practiced medicine.

Three daughters of Antonio were mentioned in 1732: Lugarda, widow of Juan "Gallego" (Sayago) of Santa Fe, more than thirty years old; María Rosa, twenty-five and still single; and Juana, twenty-two, married to Agustín Lobato, soldier of Santa Fe. María Rosa is most likely the woman who married Diego Vásquez Borrego."
