Philip and Bertha were the parents of Louis VI "le gros," King of France; and Constance of France who married Bohémond I, Prince of Atioch, and son of Robert Guiscard. 160

• Dates & Events. Philippe was crowned as King of the West Franks on 23 May 1059 in Rheims. Philippe's guardian for seven years was Baldwin V, Count of Flanders, who prevented him from interfering with William's conquest of England. Philippe was almost excommunicated several times. Pope Gregory VII wrote many letters to French bishops complaining about Philip's behavior.
