  • Marriage: Roger, Sheriff of London 245

bullet  Information about this person:

• Background Information. 245
In a charter of Gervase de Cornhill during the reign of Henry II, Ralph fitz Herlwin is mentioned as his uncle. Ralph Fitz Herlwin was in 1130 joint-Sheriff of London. [Ninth Report Hist. MSS, App. i. pp. 20a, 64a]. Ralph could not be Gervase's father, Roger's brother since he is always written as "Roger nepos Huberti," and Ralph was always written as "Ralph Fitz Herlwin". Ralph was the brother of Roger's wife. Ingenolda is given as the widow of Roger, so she may be also the mother of Gervase, the sister of Ralph Fitz Herlwin and daughter of Herlwin unless she is a later wife.

~Geoffrey de Mandeville: A Study of the Anarchy, (Appendix K.) Gervase de Cornhill, pp. 309-310

Ingenolda married Roger, Sheriff of London.245 (Roger, Sheriff of London was born in London, Middlesex, England and died about 1130 in Jerusalem.)
