Richard is described as the son of William Comyn in a charter to the church of Glasgow. [Reg. Glasguenris, i. 101]. It is doubtless he who, between 1215 and 1233, repeated the grant of the lands of Carraw to Hexham. [Pirory of Hexham, ii, 85 note.] It is probably he who appears in a prominent place among the magnates of Scotland who were sureties in 1244 for Alexander II in his contract with Henry III [Cal. of Docs., i. 302]. He appears to have died between that and Jul 1249.
