Henry de Fleg, born around 1140, and comes of notice about 1175 when he was granted fourteen acres of land in Sall by Ralph de Clere, to be held by the service of rendering four filt spurs a Easter each year. In an undated deed, but in the reign of Richard I (1189-1199), Theobald de Valoines granted to Henry de Fleg and his heirs all the fee which said Henry held of said Theobald in Winterton and Somerton at 8s per annum, formerly 20s. [Blomfield's History Norfolk, vol 11, p. 194]. Henry shows up in records during the reign of King John in 1202 and 1203/04. Henry died after 1204, but before 1217. There are three sons of Henry de Fleg that can be found in records. They were John (ancestor of Thomas Flagg), Philip and William.
