~Cockayne's Complete Peerage under the entry for Nicholas of Audley, on p. 338 states : that "he (i.e. Nicolas) married. Catherine, daughter of John (1st Lord Giffard of Brimpsfield), by his 1st wife, Maud, widow of William Longespee, (sometimes regarded as Earl of Salisbury), daughter and heir of Walter de Clifford. He died 28 Aug 1299 (27 Edward )I. His widow, who was born 1272, had dower 23 Oct 1299; she was living in 1322, as a nun at Ledbury.
Katherine married Sir Nicholas de Aldithley Knight, son of James de Audley Justiciar of Ireland and Ela de Longespée. (Sir Nicholas de Aldithley Knight was born before 1258 in Heleigh Castle, Audley, Staffordshire, England and died on 28 Aug 1299 in Heleigh Castle, Audley, Staffordshire, England.)
