William Fleg, son of Philip Fleg and father to John Fleg, was probably born in Norwich around 1310. He was likely been of age in 1332 when assessed 1s on the subsidy of 6 Edward III. In April 1342, William Fleg appeared against John atte Woode in a plea of trespass on lands in Scarning.

More references to William Fleg follow. On 20 Apr 1347, William Fleg was a juror. on 24 Apr 1360, William Fleg was given fealty for two acres of land in Scarning and East Bradenham, granted to him by the lord.

Only two sons have been located for William Fleg. John, who followed his father, William. The second was Thomas Flegg. There are no records of his wife's name.
